Waheed Parra Seeks CM’s Intervention in Land Allotment to Security Forces in Pulwama

Residents of Nownagri village in Pulwama have intensified protests against the proposed acquisition of their last remaining grazing land for security installations, with local MLA Waheed-ur-Rehman Parra appealing to former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for urgent intervention.

The agricultural community, which has already surrendered significant land for industrial projects, claims the new acquisition threatens their livelihood. “This is not opposition to security needs, but a fight for survival,” Parra stated, highlighting the absence of compensation or rehabilitation plans for affected families dependent on livestock and subsistence farming.

Villagers demand alternative sites be considered, warning of irreversible damage to the agrarian economy. The administration faces mounting pressure to revisit the decision amid growing discontent in the south Kashmir region. (Source: KNT)
