A devastating weather-related incident claimed two lives and left two injured in the remote mountainous area of Kanzalpathri Dokh in Kulgam district on Wednesday. According to officials speaking to Kashmir News Corner (KNC), powerful gusts accompanying heavy rainfall and lightning caused multiple forest trees to collapse onto a nomadic family’s tent.
The deceased have been identified as Mohammad Shafi Bokad and Rehana, who died instantly in the accident. Two other family members were rescued with injuries and immediately transported for medical care. Kulgam’s Deputy Commissioner personally led the emergency response, mobilizing the ADC and SDRF teams to the difficult terrain for rescue operations.
This tragedy highlights the vulnerabilities faced by nomadic communities during Kashmir’s volatile monsoon season. Authorities have initiated relief measures while meteorologists warn of continued unstable weather patterns across the region. (Source: KNC)
