A teenage girl drowned in the Jhelum River near Preeniya’s Damm reservoir on Tuesday afternoon after reportedly jumping into the waters. Witnesses stated she was accompanied by a boy who fled the scene immediately after the incident.
A joint rescue operation involving SDPO Uri, SHO Boniyar, and SDRF teams was launched within minutes, but the girl’s body remains unrecovered as of latest reports.
