The Geology and Mining Department’s month-long enforcement drive against illegal sand mining in Pulwama has yielded significant results, with fines exceeding ₹1 crore imposed on violators and multiple vehicles seized.
Officials confirmed the rigorous campaign, led by the District Mineral Officer, has disrupted illicit sand extraction networks. “No violator, regardless of influence, will be spared,” a department official told KNT, dismissing rumors of lax enforcement as misinformation spread by affected groups.
The crackdown has garnered public support, with locals applauding efforts to curb environmental degradation. Authorities vow to sustain the momentum, emphasizing strict legal action against unauthorized mining activities.
