A devastating explosion at Sigachi Industries’ pharmaceutical unit in Pashamylaram has claimed 36 lives, with rescue teams working tirelessly to locate survivors trapped under the collapsed production unit. The death toll is feared to rise as recovery efforts enter their second day.
Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy announced ₹1 crore compensation for families of the deceased and ₹10 lakh for the critically injured, along with immediate relief payments. Accompanied by his cabinet, Reddy inspected the site where forensic teams are conducting DNA analysis to identify victims – only four have been recognized so far.
The company has suspended operations as the blast severely damaged its manufacturing infrastructure. This industrial tragedy marks one of Telangana’s worst accidents in recent years, raising urgent questions about safety protocols in chemical plants.
