PDP MLA Questions Govt Silence on Martyrs Day (July-13) Commemoration

PDP’s Pulwama MLA Waheed Ur Rehman Para has criticized the J&K administration’s silence on July 13 Martyrs’ Day preparations, alleging the National Conference has unofficially taken charge of commemorations.

In a social media post, Para questioned why the Chief Minister’s Office remains uninvolved while “governance of the day shifts to NC’s Nawai Subh office.”

He specifically challenged NC leaders Farooq and Omar Abdullah to visit the martyrs’ graveyard where Sheikh Abdullah began his political journey.

The remarks highlight growing political tensions over the observance of the historic day, which marks the 1931 killing of 22 Kashmiris during anti-autocracy protests. (Source: KDC)
