A Power Development Department (PDD) worker, identified as Mohd Yaqoob, died on Monday after falling from a low-tension electric pole in Chakoora village.
The incident occurred during a routine power disconnection drive, with eyewitnesses reporting he succumbed to severe injuries on the spot.
Yaqoob, a permanent daily laborer, was part of the PDD’s field operations team in Sector Chakoora. His death has sparked concerns over inadequate safety measures for linemen working at heights.
This marks the second such incident in Kashmir this month, following a similar accident in Sopore where a lineman was critically injured.
