Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has sanctioned ex-gratia payments for victims of the devastating Kishtwar cloudburst during his visit to the affected areas. The relief package includes ₹2 lakh for families of the deceased, ₹1 lakh for seriously injured, and ₹50,000 for minor injuries. Property damage compensation ranges up to ₹1 lakh based on destruction severity.
The CM emphasized this immediate financial assistance complements ongoing rehabilitation efforts. He directed officials to expedite relief distribution while ensuring transparent assessment of damages. The aid comes from the CM’s Relief Fund, with special teams deployed for ground-level verification.
This response follows the August 14 disaster that claimed 32 lives. The government has prioritized restoring essential services while coordinating with central agencies for long-term recovery. The relief package mirrors protocols established during previous natural calamities in the region.
