A fatal accident on the Leh-Ladakh highway claimed two lives Wednesday evening when an oil tanker veered off the road and plunged into a deep gorge.
Officials confirmed both the driver and conductor died instantly in the crash.
“Rescue teams reached promptly, but the victims had already succumbed to severe injuries,” an official told JKNS. Authorities are investigating the cause of the mishap as identities of the deceased remain undisclosed.
The incident highlights continuing safety challenges on the mountainous highway.
