National Conference Provisional President Advocates for Dr. Kamal Farooqui’s Reinstatement
Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir – In a recent conversation with News18, National Conference Provisional President Adv Showkat Ahmad Mir urged the Waqf Board to reinstate Dr. Kamal Farooqui as the Imam of Dargah Hazratbal. Dr. Farooqui was relieved of his duties due to allegations of forced conversion.
Mir emphasized that some individuals are falsely praising the current Waqf chairperson, but he expressed no personal objections. However, he criticized these individuals for switching parties after every election and merely cheering on minor accomplishments.
Mir highlighted the National Conference’s significant contributions to the development of Dargah Hazratbal Srinagar, particularly during their tenure as Waqf Board administrators until 2002. He also noted the party’s positive relations with the central government, expressing optimism that they will regain control of the Waqf Board after statehood restoration.
The National Conference Provisional President’s statement underscores the party’s commitment to promoting the welfare of the Muslim community and preserving the integrity of religious institutions in Jammu and Kashmir.
