NC, PDP Demand High-Level Probe Into Deaths Of 2 Nomad Brothers

Members of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly, including the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the National Conference (NC), demanded a high-level probe into the deaths of two brothers, Showkat Ahmad Bajad and Riyaz Ahmad Bajad, who went missing last month ¹. The brothers, along with Mukhtar Ahmad, were laborers who disappeared on February 13 while traveling to a relative’s house in Ashmuji. Their bodies were later recovered from the Vaishov nullah in Kulgam district..

The PDP members, led by Wahid Para, expressed concerns that the deaths have caused panic among the people, particularly the tribal community. They demanded an impartial investigation to bring the perpetrators to justice. The NC members also joined in, calling for a high-level inquiry into the deaths and highlighting the rising cases of people going missing in the region.

The assembly session was disrupted as some NC members entered the Well of the House, seeking a probe into the deaths and alleged police misconduct. The Speaker intervened, reassuring that Chief Minister Omar Abdullah would address the issue and ensure appropriate action.
