A 55-year-old man, Abdul Aziz Najar from Wenkura, drowned in the Jhelum River near Azad Gunj on Saturday morning. Eyewitnesses reported that Najar unexpectedly jumped into the river around 10:30 AM under unclear circumstances.
Rescue teams, including the SDRF, local volunteers, and police, immediately launched a search operation.
The incident has drawn crowds of concerned locals to the riverbank as efforts to recover the body continue. Authorities have yet to determine the reason behind Najar’s sudden jump into the water.
