JKSA Applauds Omar Abdullah for Evacuating 1,300 Students from Iran

The Jammu and Kashmir Students Association (JKSA) has expressed gratitude to former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for facilitating the safe return of 1,300 Kashmiri students from conflict-hit Iran. In a formal letter, the JKSA credited Abdullah’s timely intervention and persistent follow-ups with the central government for the successful evacuation.

The Association also acknowledged Nasir Sogami, Advisor to the CM, for his hands-on role in coordinating logistics and transportation. Students stranded in Iranian cities like Tehran and Qom faced severe distress amid escalating conflict.

Abdullah’s direct engagement with the External Affairs Ministry ensured swift repatriation flights and post-arrival arrangements, including deluxe buses from Delhi to Srinagar.

“This operation wasn’t just about evacuation but restoring dignity to traumatized students,” said JKSA spokesperson Khuehami, praising Abdullah’s end-to-end involvement. The collaborative effort between J&K leadership, the Indian Embassy, and central agencies has set a benchmark for crisis response. “Omar Sahab’s leadership restored faith in governance during our most challenging time,” Khuehami added.

The evacuation highlights the importance of responsive leadership in safeguarding citizens abroad.
