Jammu and Kashmir administration has granted the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) a 10-year authorization to conduct regular field firing exercises at its Lethpora training facility in Pulwama district. The permission, issued under the 1938 Field Firing Act, covers the existing 100-meter baffle range at the Group Centre CRPF complex.
The Home Department’s notification mandates strict adherence to safety protocols during drills at the facility, which serves as a key training hub for counter-insurgency operations. This long-term approval replaces previous short-term clearances, streamlining the paramilitary force’s preparedness exercises in the terrorism-affected region.
Local authorities have been directed to implement noise mitigation measures and coordinate with civilian populations near the range to minimize disruption. (Source: JKNS)
