In a significant crackdown on illegal mining, the Mining Department in Pulwama, led by Team B, carried out surprise raids in multiple areas, including Kakapora, Tral, Lassipora, and Khrew Pampore. The operation resulted in the seizure of a mechanical boat and seven vehicles used for unauthorized mineral extraction.
Acting on credible intelligence, officials launched the raids to curb rampant illegal sand and gravel mining, which has been threatening the local ecology. Among the seized vehicles were tippers and excavators used in the extraction and transportation of minerals.
A senior official from the Mining Department emphasized that stringent action would be taken against those found violating mining regulations. “Illegal mining poses a serious threat to our environment and natural resources. Such operations will continue to ensure strict enforcement of the law,” the official stated.
Authorities have also issued stern warnings to individuals and contractors engaging in unlawful mineral extraction, stressing that violators will face heavy penalties.
Local residents have welcomed the move, urging the administration to maintain strict vigilance to protect the region’s natural resources. The Mining Department has assured that regular monitoring and enforcement measures will be implemented to prevent further illegal activities in the district.
This latest action underscores the government’s commitment to combating environmental crimes and ensuring sustainable resource management.(CNS)
