Head Constable Inju’red in Accidental Firing while Cleaning Rifle at Pantha-Chowk

A head constable sustained leg injuries Friday when his service weapon accidentally discharged during routine cleaning at a former MLA’s residence in Pantha Chowk. The officer was promptly hospitalized, with authorities confirming the incident as unintentional.

This marks the fourth such firearms-related accident among security personnel in Kashmir this month, raising concerns about weapon handling protocols. Police have initiated standard procedural reviews while the injured constable remains under medical observation. (Source: JKNS)
