Srinagar, Mar 11 (KB): Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of india, Monday clamped a five year ban on Jammu and Kashmir Ittihadul Muslimeen and Mirwaiz Kashmir Umar Farooq led Awami Action Committee (AAC).
The MHA in two separate notifications said that JKIM, and AAC have been engaging in “unlawful activities, posing a threat to India’s integrity, sovereignty, and security.”
The MHA notification, as per news agency Kashmir Bulletin, accused the JKIM “of supporting terrorist activities, spreading anti-India propaganda, and mobilizing funds for separatist movements in Jammu and Kashmir.”
JKIM members, the notification reads, have shown disregard for India’s constitutional authority and have been involved in activities destabilizing law and order, inciting unrest, and promoting the use of arms for separatist agendas, notification reads.
In a separate notification, regarding ban on Mirwaiz Kashmir Umar Farooq led Awami Action Committee (AAC), the MHA notification among a host of charges alleged the organisation of “remaining involved in mobilising funds for perpetrating unlawful activities, including supporting secessionist, separatist and terrorist activities in Jammu and Kashmir.”
Notably, Jammu & Kashmir Ittihadul Muslimeen was founded by Mohammad Abbas Ansari and his followers in 1962 at Srinagar, Kashmir, aimed at forging Shi’a–Sunni unity in Kashmir. (KB)
