Jammu and Kashmir Police have arrested a Central University of Jammu student for allegedly supplying arms to criminal gangs in the region. Kaif Ahmed, a BTech student from Bihar’s Siwan district, was apprehended during investigations into a February 23 shootout at a Miran Sahib wedding. His arrest came after interrogation of Balwinder Singh alias Goru Jatt, a key accused in the case..Police allege Ahmed operated an illegal arms network transporting weapons from Bihar to Jammu. He has been charged under Sections 109/3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Section 3/25 of the Arms Act.
While two shootout accused were arrested immediately, Jatt’s recent capture led investigators to Ahmed’s alleged involvement. The case has exposed an interstate weapons supply chain exploiting student mobility for criminal activities.
Authorities are investigating possible links to other gang-related crimes in Jammu and Samba districts. The arrest highlights growing concerns about criminal networks infiltrating educational institutions.
