Toiba Yaqoob, a Class 10 student, was barred from sitting for her annual board examinations due to a technical error by her school. The school had typed the wrong name, “Toiba Fayaz”, on her roll number slip instead of her actual name. Despite the principal’s efforts to rectify the error, JKBOSE failed to provide a corrected roll number slip, resulting in Toiba missing her exams. The principal attributed the mistake to human error and claimed that JKBOSE’s delay in rectifying the error cost Toiba an academic year. Toiba’s family is devastated, and the incident has raised concerns about the efficiency of JKBOSE. Toiba’s mother lamented, “What has my child done? What was her fault?” The principal visited JKBOSE continuously for seven days and was assured that Toiba would receive the admit card, but nothing happened. The incident highlights the need for JKBOSE to streamline its processes and ensure that technical errors do not jeopardize students’ futures.
