A 49-year-old pilgrim from Uttar Pradesh, Rakesh Kumar Soni, died en route to the Amarnath shrine on Sunday after suffering a suspected heart attack.
Soni, a resident of Pantnagar, was rushed to District Hospital Ganderbal with chest pain before being referred to SKIMS Soura, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
This marks among the Several pilgrim fatality during yatra, with most casualties attributed to pre-existing health conditions exacerbated by the high-altitude trek. (Source: JKNS)
