After 04 Days of Rescue Operation, Body of Sopore Man Retrieved from Jehlum

The extensive four-day search for a missing fisherman concluded on Wednesday with the recovery of his body from the Jhelum River near the Tulbal Bypass Bridge in the Sopore area. The deceased has been identified as Ali Mohammad Dar, a local resident who had ventured out for fishing on Sunday evening and failed to return home, prompting immediate concern from his family and the community.

The operation to locate Dar was a significant collaborative effort, drawing resources from multiple agencies determined to provide answers to the grieving family. Teams from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), local Police, and experienced volunteers from the community of fishermen tirelessly scoured the river. Their persistent search, facing the challenges of the river’s flow, ultimately led to the successful but tragic recovery of the body.

Following the recovery, the body of Ali Mohammad Dar was transported to the Sub District Hospital (SDH) in Sopore for the necessary post-mortem examination and other medico-legal procedures required by law. Local police authorities have officially taken cognizance of the tragic incident and have initiated a comprehensive investigation to determine the precise circumstances that led to the accident.
