On behalf of the saffron growers and the people of Pampore, I extend my sincere gratitude to Hon’ble Hasnain Masoodi, MLA Pampore, for raising critical issues concerning the saffron industry, the challenges faced by saffron growers, the alarming decline in production, and the necessary mitigation measures for its revival.
His efforts in highlighting these pressing concerns at the appropriate forums reflect a strong commitment to safeguarding Kashmir’s rich saffron heritage. The decline of the saffron industry has not only impacted the livelihoods of thousands of farmers but also put at risk the legacy of Pampore, the original home of world-renowned Kashmiri saffron.
We appreciate his proactive stance in seeking immediate interventions, including strict measures to curb the illegal export of saffron bulbs, ensuring the proper implementation of the National Saffron Mission, and pushing for much-needed policy reforms to revive and sustain saffron cultivation.
The voices of our saffron growers must be heard, and we remain hopeful that his advocacy will lead to concrete government action to restore the lost glory of Kashmiri saffron.
