Srinagar, July 1: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has launched a comprehensive investigation into alleged large-scale irregularities in the 2020 recruitment of Firemen and Fireman Drivers in Jammu and Kashmir’s Fire & Emergency Services Department.
The probe follows multiple complaints from aggrieved candidates about wrongful selections through corrupt practices. An FIR (No. 01/2025) was registered on January 1, 2025, after preliminary verification revealed serious flaws in the recruitment process. The ACB is now scrutinizing bank transactions of selected candidates to trace money trails, identifying middlemen involved in the scam, and examining over 700 selection records.
“The scale makes this a complex case requiring meticulous analysis of financial transactions and selection parameters,” an ACB spokesperson stated.
The bureau assured the public of a thorough investigation, though the process may take time due to the volume of records and need to establish concrete evidence against perpetrators at all levels. Citizens with relevant information have been urged to cooperate with authorities.
