Kargil, Aug 31 (KNC): A tragic road accident occurred on Sunday when a vehicle travelling from Sonamarg towards Kargil, skidded off the road at Shaitan Nalla Mord near Gumri and fell into the river.
A senior police officer told news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC, two travellers died on the spot, while three others, including the driver, sustained critical injuries. The injured were rescued by Army and Police personnel and shifted to Sub District Hospital Drass for treatment.
He said all occupants of the vehicle are non-locals. The accident reportedly occurred due to rash driving by the driver.
Police have registered FIR No. 58/2025 under sections 281 and 225(a) BNS at the concerned police station, and investigation has been initiated. (KNC)
