Yasin Malik’s Home Among 07 Residences Raided by SIA Over 35-Yr-Old Murder Case

The State Investigation Agency (SIA) conducted raids at eight locations in Srinagar on Monday, including the residence of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chief Mohammad Yasin Malik, in connection with the 1990 killing of a Kashmiri Pandit woman. Officials stated the searches were part of the investigation into FIR No. 56/1990 registered under murder, conspiracy and anti-terror laws at Police Station Nigeen, now being probed by SIA.

A team led by DySP Abid Hussain searched Malik’s Maisuma residence under supervision of an Executive Magistrate. Malik, currently incarcerated in Delhi’s Tihar Jail, is the son of Ghulam Qadir Malik. The raids also targeted residences of seven other individuals across Srinagar – Javaid Ahmad Mir in Zainakadal, Peer Noor ul Haq Shah in Bachpora, Reyaz Kabir Sheikh in Batamaloo, Bashir Ahmad Gojri in Soklipora, Feroz Ahmad Khan in Sazgaripora, and two members of the Tiploo family in Anchar and Ahmadnagar localities. The investigation relates to a three-decade old case involving the murder of a Kashmiri Pandit woman during heightened militancy in the region.

Authorities have intensified efforts to revisit unresolved cases from the 1990s, with the SIA taking over several such investigations in recent years. The agency has not disclosed specific evidence linking the raided premises to the crime, but sources indicate the operation was based on fresh leads in the long-pending case. All eight locations were thoroughly searched and relevant documents seized for examination, officials confirmed.
