Schools in Kashmir Valley will reopen on May 13, 2025, after being closed due to heightened India-Pakistan tensions. However, schools in border districts of Kupwara, Baramulla, and Gurez sub-division of Bandipora will remain closed until further orders.
Director School Education Kashmir, Dr. G.N. Itoo, confirmed the development, citing precautionary measures as the reason for the initial closure. The decision to reopen schools applies to most areas of the valley, but border districts will continue to remain shut due to ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan.
