Sikh Resident Donates Land for Muslim Graveyard Access in Tral

Pushvinder Singh, a retired Sikh social activist, donated a portion of his land in Tral’s Sehmu area to provide access to a Muslim graveyard. The land donation resolved a long-standing issue that had blocked the route for nearly four years. Singh exchanged land with another landlord to create a six-foot-wide and ninety-foot-long passage, enabling local residents to take their dead to the graveyard without difficulty.

Singh highlighted the strong bond between Sikhs and Muslims in the area, citing shared language, culture, and traditions. He emphasized the importance of community relations, stating that disputes are often resolved within the community itself through panchayats. Singh also noted that the local community actively participates in burial processes, providing support and assistance during difficult times.

The act showcases the spirit of communal harmony and mutual respect in the region. Singh’s donation demonstrates that even small acts of kindness can have a significant impact on community relations. He praised Kashmir’s tradition of coexistence and shared customs, saying it spreads a message of peace and brotherhood to the world. The story highlights the strong interpersonal bonds between Sikhs and Muslims in Sehmu, where they live in close proximity and share many aspects of life.
