12 Free Gas Cylinders Proposal Under Examination Says Govt

The Jammu and Kashmir government is currently examining a proposal to provide 12 free gas cylinders to residents, particularly those from Economically Weaker Sections (EWS). This promise was initially made in the National Conference’s 2014 manifesto. Minister Satish Sharma assured that the government is working to fulfill its commitments, and a formal announcement will be made once the modalities are finalized.

In response to Peoples Conference MLA Sajad Gani Lone’s inquiry, Sharma informed the House that the issue is under examination. The government had previously announced plans to provide double rations and 12 free gas cylinders, but the timeline for implementation is yet to be confirmed.

It’s worth noting that other parties, like the BJP, have also made similar promises. For instance, the BJP’s manifesto for the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections included provisions for two free gas cylinders under the Ujjwala Yojana, as well as other benefits for women and farmers.
