Hasnain Masoodi calls for Statehood Restoration, Redressal of Issues Faced by Stone Quarries & JK Cements

Justice Hasnain Masoodi, Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Pampore, strongly advocated for the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood and the protection of its constitutional guarantees during his speech in the budget session. He emphasized the responsibility of the Constituent Assembly in ensuring the rights and privileges of the people of J&K.

While addressing the House, Justice Masoodi lauded the visionary leadership of Jenab Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah and reiterated his deep respect for his legacy. He stated that Sheikh Sahib’s vision laid the foundation for social upliftment, particularly benefiting the downtrodden sections of society. He further noted that the recently presented budget reflects Sheikh Sahib’s progressive ideals by focusing on inclusive growth, social justice, and economic empowerment.

Justice Masoodi raised serious concerns regarding economic and local issues, particularly UNJUSTIFIED BAN / CLOSURE OF STONE QUARRIES in the name of illegal mining in Khrew, Mandakpal, Lathpora and Wuyan. He urged the government to form a special committee to assess the issue and ensure that local communities dependent on mining are not deprived of their livelihoods & demanded their revival along with a comprehensive rehabilitation plan for affected workers.

Highlighting the critical issue of land settlement, Justice Masoodi called for the immediate resolution of discrepancies in Parigaam, Samboora, Lethpora, and other areas to protect landowners’ rights. He also strongly advocated for the regularization of DW, CW, HDF, CIC, and other temporary workers, stressing the need for implementing minimum wages until their regularization is finalized.

Addressing employee welfare concerns, Justice Masoodi demanded the immediate release of retiral benefits to the employees of JAMMU & KASHMIR CEMENTS LIMITED (JKCL), who have been awaiting their dues for a long time.

Justice Masoodi also emphasized the importance of strengthening the healthcare sector and proposed the introduction of the Rehbar-e-Sehat (Dental) Scheme to ensure the availability of dental care across all 4,000 healthcare facilities in Jammu and Kashmir. He further stressed the need for infrastructural development and government support for the dairy sector, noting that Pampore is often referred to as the “Anand of Kashmir” due to its significant contribution to dairy production.Reaffirming his unwavering commitment to addressing the concerns of the people, Justice Masoodi urged the government to take immediate steps to safeguard the rights and interests of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
