Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has announced the formation of a high-level committee to address the concerns of daily wage workers in Jammu and Kashmir. The committee, led by the Chief Secretary, will comprise officials from various departments and legal advisors. Their task is to assess the exact number of daily wagers and explore viable solutions for their regularization.
Abdullah criticized the previous PDP-BJP government for failing to fulfill its promises, despite repeated assurances in budget speeches. He pointed out that they only managed to regularize 570 daily wagers.
The issue of daily wage workers took center stage during budget discussions, with Abdullah assuring that the committee would present its recommendations within six months. This move aims to provide a comprehensive solution to the long-standing issues faced by daily wage workers in Jammu and Kashmir.
