Srinagar, February 25, 2025: Advocate Fayaz Lone, a resident of Shar-Shali Khrew Pampore, has filed a complaint against Islamic preacher and social media content creator Er Umar Farooq, alias Gazi Sir, under Sections 196 and 299 of the BNS.
The complaint alleges that Er Umar Farooq has made derogatory remarks against Sufis who spread Islam in Kashmir, claimed that Imam Hussain (as) fought with Yazid for his family and not for Islam, and questioned the Holy Relic at Hazratbal Srinagar. Furthermore, he allegedly defamed Kashmiris by calling them “Brehmanas” and made derogatory comments against an 80-year-old woman who prayed at Achabal Spring.
The complaint also mentions that Er Umar Farooq made allegations against students in coaching centers in Srinagar, including one where the complainant’s son is enrolled, leading to trauma and depression.
The application has been forwarded to the DC and Commissioner Secretary Civil Secretariat Srinagar for permission to pursue the case against Er Umar Farooq. The complainant has also demanded that the Public Safety Act be slapped against the accused.
“We will pursue this case to its logical conclusion and ensure that justice is served,” said Advocate Fayaz Lone.
