Srinagar, Feb 22(KB) : Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Saturday questioned the authorities about the removal of signboards in Srinagar that urged tourists to avoid alcohol and drugs, as well as to maintain cleanliness in the city.In a post on X, Mirwaiz wrote, “Why was this signboard seized? What exactly is wrong with urging tourists to respect local culture, avoid alcohol and use of drugs, and keep the city clean?”“Shopkeepers of Lal Chowk informed me about this. Is promoting moral values and decency now a crime in Kashmir?, he added.Earlier traders in Srinagar’s Lal Chowk urged tourists to refrain from consuming alcohol, drugs and avoid smoking and spitting while visiting the area.
