A seven-year-old girl from Punjab, Simran Kaur, drowned in a water body at Batengoo on Monday evening.
The daughter of Happy Singh, who was temporarily residing in Anantnag, reportedly slipped into the water before help could arrive. Local authorities launched a rescue operation, but the child was declared dead upon retrieval.
Police have initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
