Three people died and over a dozen were injured when a passenger tempo plunged into a gorge on Bharath Road in Ponda area Tuesday.
Deputy Commissioner Harvinder Singh confirmed the casualties and directed hospitals to prioritize treatment for the injured.
Local volunteers joined police in rescue operations, with fears the toll may rise as critical patients remain hospitalized. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
